About Lamella Lab
A small studio in Copenhagen.
Lamella Lab is one person, a few 3D printers and a lamp called Rima. I’m Jakob. I design every lamp and print it myself in Copenhagen, one at a time, because that’s the only way I know to keep the details right.
A note from the maker
About me
My name is Jakob – a 31 year old German man living in Copenhagen with my Danish wife. When I was 22 I built my first 3D printer from parts and used it to print everything from hydroponic towers to drinking games to new hinges for the kitchen cabinets. I loved the freedom and versatility it gave me and I became the go-to 3D printer guy in my friend group.
When I quit my consultant job in 2026, I quickly looked to my 3D printer to figure out my next step. My old machine had been replaced with a state-of-the-art Bambu Lab printer, already starting to collect dust. I decided to break it in by using it to make one of the things I was most impressed about when I originally moved to Denmark – lighting.
My mother country had introduced me to efficient, bright light – Denmark introduced me to low lights and multiple, smaller light sources. I knew I wanted to offer my take, so I combined it with the two other things that have always brought me joy – nature and technology.
Lamella Lab is the passion project that grew from combining those interests and, as my wife says, adding a healthy dose of German engineering.

Where Rima comes from
Rima is inspired by the lamellae, the thin gills underneath a mushroom cap. Printing it layer by layer is what gives it that structure, and why it has more layers than strictly necessary.

Most lamps are made after you order. Packed within 1 business day and then shipped, with tracking. The ready-by estimate on the product page always reflects the current print queue.
Why it costs what it costs
Hours of printing per lamp, quality material, careful finishing and nobody in between. Shipping within Denmark is included and prices include VAT.
